Jesus wants us to pray. He uses the Bible to lead us in prayer, that However, is only going to work if you read, memorize, meditate on the Bible. I have read my Bible 40+ times but I don't think that is what makes me a great prayer warrior I think it is knowing that it is the Word of God in me that makes me totally rely on Him in prayer. I don't have some magic formula for prayer. I do use the gift of the Spirit and the fruits of the Spirit in prayer but it is the Word that God uses to show me how to pray. Prophetic gifting only is a little part of prayer, listening and watching is the greatest tool we have.
So how do we read the Bible.
Almost everyone has their own way of reading the Bible. Some try to get through it by reading it daily on a reading program. http://www.biblegateway.com

Programs are available in many website and often on the inside of Bibles in Print. People use different translations. Some people read just a little every day. I don't know if there is a right or wrong way but the Bible does say in Psalm 1:2 to meditate on it habitually or make a habit of it day and night. I read my Bible in the late morning and the late night. This is not my study time just my God speak to me through your word time. I do this because His word is like a special letter He wrote to me that I might know Him better.
Psalm 1
2 But his delight and
desires are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the
instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and
studies) by day and by night.
